Roman Pavlyuchenko, nicknamed The Sleeping Giant, is a Russian footballer who participated in the bright and unforgettable Euro 2008 for Russia. Roman gained his wild popularity because of his magnificent goals in the qualifying mast against England, thanks to which the Russian team was able to break through to the final tournament.

Biography
The future football player was born in the urban-type settlement Mostovoy, in December 15, 1981. Almost immediately after his birth, the family decided to move to Karachay-Cherkessia. The childhood of the young Roman passed in the small town of Ust-Dzhegut. The boy loved football and constantly played in the yard, his father noticed a frantic craving for this sport and decided to send Roman to a youth school.
At the age of 9, he began to engage in the Victory team, where he spent seven and a few years. After there was a youth team Dynamo Stavropol. From there he went to conquer professional football.
Career
In 2000, the promising guy drew attention to the grandees of Russian football, including CSKA and Shinnik. But Roma chose the “Rotor", where he spent 3 quite successful for the novice footballer of the season. Having played 65 matches, Pavlyuchenko scored 15 goals.
At the end of 2002, Pavlyuchenko liked the Moscow “Spartak”, good money was laid out for him at that time - 700 thousand euros. And I must say, these investments have fully justified themselves, for the 189 matches, the sleeping giant scored 89 goals.
In 2007, Roman as a member of the national team performed a miracle. In an extremely important match for our team against England, Russia lost 0-1, and only a victory was needed. And in the second half, at 58 minutes Pavlyuchenko replaced, scoring two decisive goals and literally wrested the victory from the British. Of course, this match was the most successful for Roman, all the fans of our team immediately noticed him.
Already at the European Championships, our team performed another miracle, reaching the playoffs for the Netherlands national team. Our guys were able to pass such a formidable opponent and secure their place in the semifinals. Despite the fact that in the next match the Russian national team was heavily lost to the future champions of the Spaniards, the guys returned home as heroes.
After the successful European Championship, many of the team went to conquer European football. Roman Pavlyuchenko did not stand aside. Immediately after the tournament, Roma moved to one of the English giants - Totenham.

In the English club Pavlyuchenko played 112 matches and scored 42 goals. This, perhaps, was the peak of his career, after “Tottenham Hotspur” he returned to Russia and became a player in the Moscow “Locomotive”.
Behind him was “Kuban”, “Ural”, and then completely semi-amateur club from Moscow “Ararat”, which lasted only one year. Pavlyuchenko finished playing for the national team in 2013, and at the club level currently does not have a permanent job, being a free agent.
