Numerous innovations in the army, especially regarding its structure, can confuse anyone. Including, probably, and spies. It’s not easy for a person who is not very dedicated to the secrets of the Ministry of Defense to say how many, for example, there are armed forces in the country and what is the difference between a simple branch of the Armed Forces and one of its types.

Earth, water, air
The first thing that attracts attention when studying the structure of the Armed Forces, or abbreviated Armed Forces, is the curious commitment of the military to the number 3. It turns out that we have exactly three types of troops, as well as three separate branches. One involuntarily recalls three epic heroes, the three-headed Serpent Gorynych, songs about three tankmen and three comrades who served in the same regiment.
The types include ground forces, the navy and the air force, each of which has its own kind. The list of separate arms includes strategic missile forces (Strategic Rocket Forces), airborne assault forces (Airborne Forces), and aerospace defense forces. All three kinds are capable not only of acting together with others, but also of solving completely independent military tasks.
Not a single infantry
The most numerous family in the number of employees in it are the ground forces. In the old manner, they are sometimes called infantry. Although it was not infantry in them for a long time, it was replaced by motorized rifle units, which are considered the most mobile kind of NE. The motorized infantry of the Russian army is supplemented by tank and missile troops, artillery, special forces (air assault battalions, reconnaissance, communications, engineering, chemical), and rear forces. The main tactical goal is to conduct a fast offensive and defense, capture with the retention of territory and objects.
The Air Force also consists of several genera. They have long-range, front-line, army, military transport and special aviation, anti-aircraft missile and radio-technical troops. The main striking force of the Navy is ships capable of fighting above and below water. In addition to them, the fleet has coastal units, naval aviation, and formations of the marine corps and special forces formed for power operations and reconnaissance.
