On November 14, according to the new style, several saints are recalled in the Church. The first in the saints are the names of the holy healers of the disinterested Cosmas and Damian. The saints were brothers, received a pious upbringing from their holy mother - Theodotia, also commemorated on this day in the Church. Upon reaching adulthood, Cosmas and Damian decided to devote themselves to the service of their neighbors, through healing. Many people were cured by brothers, not only through medicine, but also through prayers, performing many miracles of healing. For the provision of medical care, the brothers did not charge a fee, which is why they are called disinterested. The saints died in Fereman.
On November 14, the Orthodox Church honors the memory of the holy martyrs John and James, who lived in Persia in the 4th century. St. John carried episcopal service, and St. James was a presbyter. The righteous suffered martyrdom by truncating the head with a sword on the orders of King Sapor.
Another martyr who suffered from the truncation of the chapter (586) is St. Jerminigeld. The memory of this saint is also celebrated on November 14th. This righteous man suffered from his own father, an Arian, who was the king of the Goths. For the confession of the Orthodox faith, his father deprived Jerminigeld of the royal succession to the throne and imprisoned him. In prison, the Arian bishop came to the saint for communion, but Yerminigeld refused to receive communion from the hands of the heretic. For this refusal the martyr also accepted death.
On November 14, the following martyrs are recalled: Cyriene and Juliania (suffered during the persecution of Christians in the III century), as well as Caesarea, Dasius and five others with them (were killed in Damascus in the VII century).
