In recent decades, Russia has seen an interest in the western holiday Halloween, which originated in the UK. Many celebrate it, have fun and triumph, not understanding the main meaning and content of this day. Some cafes, restaurants and bars have special events that day. For example, discounts to those who come in the costume of some vampire or witch. Pumpkins symbolizing the severed head are laid out around the establishments, and the walls are decorated with images with mystical and frankly demonic characters.
Halloween means "All Saints Day." In the West, it was initially perceived as a time of remembrance of holy people who were endowed with divine grace. But time passes and Halloween has turned into a parade of evil spirits. People began to dress up in costumes of demons, sorcerers, witches, werewolves and vampires. This tradition comes to Russia. In this case, no one thinks about the original name of the holiday.
It is completely unacceptable for an Orthodox Christian to dress up as evil spirits. A person must realize that there has been a serious substitution of concepts. Now the day of saints is a time of revelry and triumph of evil spirits. An Orthodox person who is a follower of Christ himself cannot be lowered to the level of resemblance to demons. Few people think about the expression - "Whom you call, he comes." Festivities on this day are akin to the covens of witches, and the Christian is strictly forbidden to take part in this. The gospel proclaims that a believer should renounce evil and all its manifestations. And in the celebration of Halloween there is a "fashion show" of demonic power.
Awareness of the meaning of the outfits and the very essence of Halloween allows the Christian to set clear priorities. Or he serves God, or the devil. No other is given in this situation.
