There are much more bodies of water on the planet than land. About three quarters of the globe is covered by oceans, and only a quarter remains drier. Maybe this land should be protected? But the fact is that almost all the water on Earth is salty. There are very few bodies of fresh water suitable for drinking. In addition, the environmental situation is deteriorating every year, so the quality of fresh water deteriorates, and its quantity is steadily decreasing.

Water is one of the most essential substances for all living things. The human body consists of more than half water. Plants also need this life-giving fluid. Compare the dry leaf and the green one: dry compared to living leaves weighs almost nothing, because there is no more moisture in it.
Man cannot live without water. But besides him, there are other living beings who also cannot live without water. Animals and birds, trees and mushrooms, and even many bacteria - everyone needs water. Without water, according to scientists, the representative of mammals will not last 10 days. Every day, people consume several liters of water, not necessarily in direct form, but it is found in food and drinks.
There are many places on Earth where, despite the proximity of oceans and seas, fresh water is almost worth its weight in gold. There are islands on which water bodies are absent. Water is imported there from other places, and it costs a lot. The life of entire settlements depends on supplies of life-giving moisture.
All major human cities are located near water bodies. People from ancient times settled in places where you can survive, but if there is no fresh water, then life will become impossible. Therefore, the sources from which human settlements are fed should be especially guarded. If contamination of such a reservoir occurs, then thousands or even millions of people can remain without water.
Each contaminated body of water, even located far from the city or village, is still a danger. Water evaporates from it, forms clouds and falls in the form of precipitation into the surrounding territories. The so-called acid rain, when water mixed with chemical waste from various industries falls on the ground, is no longer a rarity. They constitute a danger to all living things, as well as to other bodies of water.
There is an Uzbek proverb: drop by drop - a lake forms, and if it does not drip, then a desert forms. Protecting water and ponds is the same as protecting and preserving life on the planet, taking care of the beauty and prosperity of a world in which not only people live, but also many other living creatures.
