In ancient Greek myths, the ring has an important function of a kind of "nodule for memory": Prometheus wears it in memory of the time when he was chained to a rock. Being, in their history, even possessive hallmarks, even symbols of power, the rings tirelessly reminded the owner and those around him of who he was. Maybe they are introduced into the life of the bride and groom for the same purpose, to preserve and bond their bonds?

Wedding rings are worn for several reasons. Firstly, if they become important, personally significant for a person. The ring is a symbol of infinity, as it has no beginning and end, a symbol of communication and unity. Presented at the time of the conclusion of the marriage, it stores the dreams and hopes of everyone for endless and eternal love, a happy family life. In addition, it symbolizes the vow given by the newlyweds to be together in grief and in joy. The attributed value goes back to ancient times, when the groom, giving the ring, gave obligations and guarantees to the bride's parents, showed seriousness of intentions and financial well-being. It is the engagement ring that carries the proposal to "become a wife." Acceptance of it by the girl means consent. Thus, the two conclude an agreement, secretly give obligations to each other. The accepted sign, the value of the union and relations with a loved one are the main and strong motives for wearing a wedding ring. Secondly, the wedding ring gives the holder the status of a family person. It adds confidence to women - because they are not just married, but “married”, they have a defender and support. One of the basic needs of a person for belonging and love receives an expression that is visible to everyone. The ring publicly and unobtrusively demonstrates marital status, “attachment, ” “employment, ” for some people this is an important point, because waving a stamp in a passport is inappropriate. The third reason is the most "weak": they wear it because it is customary. A person does not particularly think about the meaning and meaning of the rings, does not connect him with either his chosen one or relations. If the wedding ring does not bring discomfort, they do not pay attention to it or perceive it as part of the wedding ritual. Subsequently, they may not be worn; they are easily referred to as losses or collateral in a pawnshop.
