"Hike for growing corn!"
Corn has become one of the country's main crops thanks to Mr. Khrushchev, the former Soviet leader. At that time, America maintained the leading economic position in the world. The Soviet leader was looking for ways to catch up and overtake America. It was the American example of unprecedented prosperity that prompted Nikita Sergeyevich to introduce corn into the country's agriculture. And in 1955, an appeal was made to the Komsomol to Komsomol members and all Soviet youth with an appeal: "On a campaign for growing corn!"
Corn fibers are considered especially beneficial. They are used for diseases of the liver, genitourinary tract, prostatitis.
The media have begun to promote the countless beneficial properties of culture. Sown areas began to increase every year: in 1955, 18 million hectares were allocated for corn, and in 1962 37 million hectares. The head of each agricultural enterprise had to report to higher authorities on how many percent of his crops increased corn crops on the field. So American culture has become a real "Queen of the fields." Over the years, it has occupied the minds of farm managers and ordinary Soviet citizens. Various hybrid maize varieties began to be purchased abroad. In the USSR, sticks, cereals, bread were made from corn, and besides this, sweets and sausages. All these consumer goods occupied the honorable shelves of stores.
However, agricultural experiments involving the Queen of the Fields ended in failure. Corn refused to grow where there were inappropriate climatic conditions. These are mainly the Northern and Baltic territories of the country. Agricultural workers stopped sowing vast areas with culture. Of course, corn failed to replace other crops, such as rye or wheat. However, corn sticks to this day occupy a place on the shelves in stores.
Due to the content of vitamin E, corn has antioxidant properties, and therefore prolongs the youth of the body.
