Curriculum Vitae
In the personal data of Pyotr Mironovich Masherov it is indicated that he was born on February 26, 1918 in a peasant family. Parents did not live well. Worked hard and raised the children. Of the eight children, only five survived. At that time, infant mortality, especially in rural areas, was very high. Little Petya was lucky in a way. He was not mowed down by the Spaniard or typhoid.
Masherov’s biography developed under the influence of relatives and friends. The elder brother Pavel graduated from a pedagogical school and worked as a teacher in the village. Peter studied well at school and decided to get an education at a labor school in Vitebsk. The young man knew how the children lived in remote villages and on farms. When he came to school as a certified teacher, he had already prepared methodological and didactic materials in mathematics and physics. The peasants respected the calm and helpful teacher.
In the partisan detachment
When the war began, Masherov was called up and sent to the front. By coincidence, the fighter was surrounded, survived several days of captivity and somehow miraculously escaped. Overcoming all kinds of difficulties and obstacles, he made his way to his native village. He got around and began to create an underground network to fight the enemy. The backbone of the partisan detachment was formed of students and fellow villagers. Today, much is known about the famous partisan movement in the occupied territory of Belarus.
War veterans and participants in armed conflicts know that war is inherently hard work, with a constant risk of death. The partisan detachment under the command of Masherov acted effectively. Suffice it to say about sabotage, as a result of which the railway bridge over the Drys river was destroyed. The occupiers had to divert reserves for the restoration of the highway. At the Headquarters of the Supreme High Command they noted the merit and introduced Pyotr Mironovich to the rank of Hero of the Soviet Union.
