Pavel Chistov was a participant in mass repressions, during the Great Patriotic War he was captured, but, presumably, he collaborated with the Germans. After the war, he was convicted in the USSR and spent 9 years in the camps, then worked as an accountant.

Different people were during the formation of the USSR. Someone was innocently convicted and shot, while someone was part of the so-called troika, which passed such sentences. The latter include Pavel Chistov.
Biography
Chistov Pavel Vasilievich was born in the Moscow province, in the village of Kandrino in 1905 in a simple family. His father was a house painter. Therefore, subsequently, for two years, Paul worked in this direction. But first he graduated from high school, then high school.
In the summer of 1923 he was accepted to work in the organs of the GPU. Here he serves as a registrar, then goes to study in a Soviet party school. When Chistov turned 21, he joined the Communist Party.
Career
Having received the necessary political education, Pavel Vasilyevich begins to move up the career ladder. First, he works as an assistant to the authorized political and information department, then he is appointed authorized in the same department.
At the age of 26, this person is already an employee of the security service, receives an appointment to Siberia. After 3 years, he holds an important post in the People’s Commissariat of Internal Affairs of the Chelyabinsk Region, becoming the head of the department of this state institution. At the same time Chistov P.V. part of the "troika", takes a wide part in the repression.

Each year he is awarded the next rank. So, for 3 years from the senior lieutenant, he rose to the rank of state security major.
In the same period, Chistov was awarded the "Order of Lenin", medals, and badges of honor.
Captivity
In September 1941, Pavel Vasilievich was captured. From his testimony it follows that on September 2 he drove by car to the city of Konotop, on the way he was captured by German soldiers. Documents, weapons, orders were taken from him.
Then follows a very implausible statement by Chistov that the party ticket was returned to him. Soon, he was even able to destroy this document. But, it is known that the Nazis did not spare the Bolsheviks, and, having taken a party membership card, they would hardly have returned it to its owner.
As Chistov told, while in captivity, he worked underground. But from the testimony of some eyewitnesses, it follows that Pavel Vasilyevich was passive in captivity, he developed projects for residential huts, baths and led these construction projects. And he joined the underground on the eve of the liberation in 1945.
