Yuri Nikolaevich Ozerov was born on January 26, 1921 in Moscow. His father was a singer of the Bolshoi Theater. Ancestors on the father's side gave their whole life to worship. Men of this kind were distinguished by beautiful and melodious heads. Maternal grandfather was engaged in healing. Yuri’s brother, Nikolai, became a well-known sports commentator throughout the country.
From a young age, the boys absorbed the spirit of high culture: the house often hosted famous actors, famous directors and singers. A photo has been preserved in the family’s archive, which depicts little Jura sitting in the arms of K.S. Stanislavsky.
As a child, Yuri became interested in drawing. At one time he even attended art school. But after a decade, the young man decided to become an actor. Before the war, Yuri managed to unlearn two years at GITIS.
When the war with the Nazis began, Ozerov went to the front as a signalman. During the war years he rose to the rank of major, having managed to graduate from the Military Academy a year before the Victory. Front-line observations engendered in him the idea: the feat of the people should be reflected in cinema. Among the awards of Ozerov are the medals "For the defense of Moscow", "For the capture of Koenigsberg", as well as "For the victory over Germany".

The war is over. Yuri Nikolaevich decides to continue his education. He becomes a student at a theater institute, and then transferred to the directing department of VGIK. His mentor was the talented teacher I. Savchenko.
Among fellow students, the Lakes are distinguished by a desire for realism. He chose such plots that captivated the audience with truthfulness and depth.
The first creative work of the director became a contribution to the treasury of world cinema. Among them are the films “Arena of the Brave”, “Son”, “Kochubey”.
Ozerov's work on Soviet art also appeared. It was the film "On a festive evening", where it was about famous musicians. The tape based on Hasek’s works, shot in collaboration with Czech film masters, was also a success. The film was distinguished by a humorous manner.
In the 60s, Ozerov set about creating the great epic Liberation. The picture combines the features of feature and documentary films. With detailed accuracy, the director recreated battle scenes. The film was given a special sound by the emotional intensity of the acting. One of the consultants of the film was G.K. Zhukov. For this work, the creator of the film was awarded the Order of Lenin.
The last works of Yuri Ozerov on the war were the paintings "The Tragedy of the Century" and "Angels of Death", created already in the 90s.
