Victoria Nuland was born in New York on July 1, 1961. Her grandparents lived in the distant past near Odessa. Subsequently, the family moved to America, fleeing the events that swept Russia at the beginning of the 20th century. Russian language for Victoria is almost like a native language. She also speaks French and speaks a little Chinese.
Nuland's father grew up in the United States. He became a professor at Yale University, where he taught the history of medicine. Victoria became the fourth child in the family.
