There are actresses who easily and simply entered their profession, because they knew exactly what they wanted, and had been preparing for an acting career from early childhood. It is to such a category of people that the German actress Nina Hoss belongs, who from the age of seven knew that she would perform in the theater.
True, at this age she took part only in radio shows. However, her mother was an actress, and this was enough to fall in love with the theater once and for all.
Biography
Nina Hoss was born in Stuttgart in 1975. When my mother was a director, and then director of the Württemberg State Theater, she often took Nina with her, and the girl from childhood knew all the intricacies of the troupe's life, the features of preparing the performances and other things unknown to the audience.
Nina's father was a prominent figure in Stuttgart society: Willy Hoss was part of the group that founded the Green Party and was part of its parliament. He worked at the Daimler-Benz concern and was a valuable employee. When Nina grew up, he was attracted to work in the party, and she often spoke out in support of the Greens policy.
Nina's debut in the theater took place in 1989: she played a significant role in the play "I Love and I Don't Love" in the theater of her native city. She was still a schoolgirl, but even then it was noticeable that she had talent and she already knows the basics of acting.
In order to better prepare herself for the stage, Nina studied piano, vocals, and dramatic art. She also had the talent of an organizer: she herself could easily compose a script for a concert and assemble a group to realize this idea.
After leaving school, Nina decided that it was time to start an independent life and realize her dream: to get an acting education. She knew that in Berlin there is a very good theater school named after Ernst Bush - the future actress went there. There, she realized that she had made the right choice, and that the scene for her was her favorite and most important activity.
Movie career
Hoss began acting in films when she was still a student at a theater school. Her first role was the work in the film "And No One Cries About Me" (1996). Nina did an excellent job with the role, although she studied for a theater actress. As it turned out, working on the set can also be interesting and can be fun. This film as a whole turned out to be successful, it was appreciated by both viewers and critics. And Nina, he brought an acquaintance with the producer Bernd Eichinger, who had a fairly significant weight in German cinema.
Eichinger just produced the film "Rosemary's Lovers" and invited Hoss to the lead role. Despite the fact that it was a remake of the 1958 tape, everything turned out perfectly. Nina played the role of Rosemary, who earned a living with her body and had high-ranking lovers. The story about Rosemary Nitribitt aroused great interest of the audience, everyone discussed the picture. And Nina realized that she had become a celebrity.
For this film in 1997, Hoss received the Golden Camera for the best debut. However, the student did not get star disease, but continued her studies at school. At that time, she began to realize her talents on the stages of various Berlin theaters, where she was invited. These were mainly classical productions, which was useful for honing acting skills.
Since 1998, Hoss became a member of the troupe of the German Theater. However, she simultaneously starred in films and worked on television. For excellent work in the cinema, she repeatedly received awards: in 2007 - “Silver Bear” for her role in the film “Yella” (2007), in 2012 she was awarded the European Film Academy Award for her role in the film “Barbara” (2012), in 2016 as part of the actors of the series "Homeland" received an award from the Guild of Actors.
The Salzburg Festival is traditionally held in Germany, and Nina Hoss was twice lucky enough to attend the opening of this gala event. The celebration, as a rule, is watched by millions of viewers, and participation in such a grandiose action added to the popularity of the actress.
In her filmography there are many films that deserve attention. For example, the painting "Jericho" (2008), which was presented at the Venice IFF as a competitive work.
In the same year, she played in the scandalous film "Nameless - A Woman in Berlin", in which Russian actors also played: Evgeny Sidikhin, Roman Gribkov, Samvel Muzhikyan, Victor Zhalsanov and others. The film caused an ambiguous assessment of the audience of different countries, because according to the plot of the picture, the Soviet soldiers who occupied Berlin in 1945 only did that they raped German women. In Russia, the picture is banned for showing, because in every family there still lives the pain of loss from the victims of World War II. And portraying an entire army of rapists is at least unreasonable. As an epigraph to a critical article about the film, one of the journalists took a quote from a German politician’s speech: “If the Russians would only cause us a small part of what we did to them, then there would not be a single German in Berlin.”
Nina received another Bavarian film award for her role as Corinna Hoffmann in the film White Masai (2005). Caught in a stranger to her place, among strangers and unusual customs, Corinna finds the strength to fight for the love of Lemalian, a representative of the African tribe.
