His youth fell on tragic times for the Fatherland. He fought, survived captivity, saw the true manifestations of good and evil. Returning to a peaceful life, our hero took up literary activity.
Readers are delighted by the amazing truthfulness of the story in the books of this author. The writer did not conceal that the plots for his works were drawn from his own biography. The hardships that befell him, taught the man to appreciate the beautiful in the world and the people around him.
Childhood
Kolya was born in December 1917. His father Grigory Dvortsov was a carpenter in the village of Kurilovka near Saratov. He was a master of the highest qualification, so he was able to avoid participating in ongoing armed conflicts. The presence of constant orders and good pay for the work performed allowed the worker to provide his wife and child with everything necessary.

The boy grew up in a prosperous family, where hard work was valued above all. Parents wanted their heir to enjoy all the benefits of civilization. They sent him to a local collective farm youth school, after which a literate teenager got a job at the collective farm. He was the timekeeper of the field brigade. The father believed that such a position was not suitable for his son. He convinced the boy to get an education that would help him glorify his name.
Youth
Of all the tempting options, Nicholas chose architecture. In 1934, he entered the Saratov Construction College. Fascinating student life lasted 3 years. Then, instead of gifts, a letter came from home in which parents asked the young man to return. The aged father could no longer bear the whole burden of responsibility for the material well-being of his relatives.

The young man dropped out of school and came to Kurilovka. He again worked on a collective farm. The economy in the hands of the heir to the working dynasty flourished, and soon he could continue his studies. By the construction of our hero, the soul no longer lay. He was fascinated by the idea of eliminating illiteracy among the peasants. Nikolai Dvortsov entered the Saratov Teachers' Institute, which he graduated in 1940. For a year, the romantic taught Russian language and literature in a peaceful country at school. Then his first test of the pen took place - several stories for children were presented to readers.
War
In 1941, Nikolai Dvortsov was drafted into the army. He was sent to serve in the East. The Iranian Shah, declaring his neutrality, helped Hitler. Soviet and British troops suddenly entered the territory of the country, overthrew a ruler hostile to them and seated on the throne his son, ready to become their ally. Our hero took a direct part in these events. From hot Iran, troops were transferred to the Western Front, where they entered into battle with the Germans.
During the liberation of Kharkov, a fighter of the Palaces was captured. The Nazis decided to use a strong guy as a workforce. He was sent to a concentration camp in Poland, then drove to Poland, and then to Norway. Near the city of Bergen was a labor camp. Many prisoners in this prison were reluctant to help the enemy. The prisoners created their own communist organization, which led the preparation of the escape. Nikolay Dvortsov also entered it. In 1944, the guards uncovered the plot and shot several people to intimidate others.

Humanity
In the fall of 1944, the Nazis left Norway. Exhausted people were released from the gates of the camp. Here they were met by local communists and pacifists who were ready to help them. The old woman, Maria Estrem, was one of the first to come, she lived near the camp, saw the poor people every day, and felt very sorry for them. She took Nikolai Dvortsov and several of his comrades to her house, treated them, fed them, took care of them as if they were their own children.
Returning home, many years after the end of the war, our hero never missed an opportunity to visit Norway and visit the Russian mother. It is this name that the kind woman received from fellow villagers and the former prisoners of war prisoners she saved. The friends of Dvortsov were surprised that the veteran was ready to once again set foot on the ground, where he was threatened with death. Nicholas explained to them that mercy always conquers pain and evil. He wrote about this in his books.
