Many of the films loved by Russian viewers would lose their inherent charm if it were not for Anatoly Mukasey who shot them. This man for many years stood modestly behind a movie camera, creating genuine masterpieces of cinematic art. All the paintings to which Anatoly Mikhailovich was related almost automatically became hits.
Anatoly Mikhailovich Mukasey: facts from a biography
The future cameraman was born in Leningrad on July 26, 1938. Anatoly's parents were unusual people: they served as illegal scouts. And houses appeared only for a while. In an interview, Mukasey said that he and his sister Ella had not seen their parents in total for about twenty years. Those returned to the country only for a few days, after which they again went abroad. About themselves, they reminded the children only of letters and parcels, which were transmitted through friends.
Children from a young age perfectly understood that outsiders did not need to talk about the true life of the family. Therefore, they sacredly kept family secrets. The nanny raised children. From time to time, serious people came to visit them - “chefs”, who also looked after the children of the scouts.
Officially, Mukasey’s father served as consul in Los Angeles. He was familiar with Theodore Dreiser, knew Charlie Chaplin. Mikhail Mukasey himself filmed meetings with these people on color film, and then showed them to children. It is possible that it was for this reason that Anatoly became interested in cinema.
Mukasey once made a discovery for himself, which determined his future fate. He realized that the stories taken on film can stop the passage of time, preserve the present for tens and even hundreds of years. Gradually, Anatoly's desire to become an operator matured. He becomes a student at VGIK and in 1961 he graduates from the camera department.
