There are certain rules for attending church, performing Christian rites, and conduct during worship. Although they say that God lives in the heart of every person, nevertheless people built temples for special communication with him and made certain norms of this communication. In order not to look like a black sheep in the church, these rules are important to know.

As for visiting a church or temple, there are a lot of rules for this action, and it is sometimes difficult to observe them because they are somewhat inconsistent with the modern rhythm of life and modern realities.
How to dress in a church
However, those who want to go to church or temple should know them, otherwise they simply will not get there, because in religious institutions they monitor this. Those who do not comply with the rules of behavior are simply expelled from there - politely but persistently.
It is believed that the church is a place of fellowship with God. And at the same time, this place is public, because many people come there. And so as not to embarrass them, you need to meet the requirements for appearance.
As they say in special manuals for visitors to temples: you cannot enter those present “into temptation and temptation” with their appearance. That is, a church and shorts are incompatible things. But not only that. The rules for visiting churches also prescribe other clothing that is unacceptable to the church. This refers to Orthodox religious institutions, because in different faiths and the rules are accordingly different - be careful..
So, for the Orthodox Church, in addition to shorts, they are also unacceptable:
- sportswear;
- swimsuit;
- too open clothes;
- clothes intended for going to a disco;
- things of a defiant style.
Simply put, for men, trousers and a shirt, a jacket or a jumper are acceptable, and for a woman - a skirt, a blouse and a scarf. Women's hair should be closed.
There are also hygiene rules for going to church: you should not smell anything other than a clean body. This is so, figuratively speaking. And if it’s specific, you shouldn’t pour a bottle of perfume on yourself before applying to the church and apply bright makeup. All that is acceptable is deodorant and soft makeup.
