Magomed Tolboev is a man who made a significant contribution to the development of Russian aviation. For special merits, he was awarded the honorary title of Hero of the Russian Federation.
Childhood, youth and education
Tolboev Magomed Omarovich was born on January 20, 1951. His birthplace is the village of Sogratl in the Guba district of the Republic of Dagestan. The future test pilot grew up in the most ordinary and not wealthy family. His father, Omar Magometovich, worked as a simple driver. Mom worked on a collective farm. Magomed is not the only child with his parents. He has a brother Tigib, who also became popular and earned a high rank.
Magomed Tolboev did not particularly stand out among his classmates during his school years, but even then he decided on his future profession and dreamed of flying to the sky. After graduating from school, the future hero entered the flight school, but did not stop at the education received. Magomed Omarovich was trained in the following institutions:
- Yeisk Higher Military Aviation School for Pilots (graduated in 1974);
- Moscow Aviation Institute (graduated in 1984);
- Peoples' Friendship University of Russia.
Tolboev received the degree of candidate of technical sciences. But Magomed Omarovich was always distinguished not only by his love of aviation, technology, but also remained a diversified person. He read a lot, led an active lifestyle. This began to encourage him to study other sciences. In Germany, he graduated from a school created to train party workers. In 1996, he wrote a dissertation, which was devoted to problems in relations between the peoples of the North Caucasus. For his work, he received the title of candidate of historical sciences.
Career
The career of Magomed Tolboev began in 1973. At this time, he began flying in the Bratislava Red Banner Aviation Regiment as a senior pilot. In the group of troops of the USSR, he led the parachute training, and then the future hero was sent on a business trip to Germany.
In 1977, Tolboev was involved in flight test work, but after a while was forced to resign. In 1984, Magomed Omarovich was appointed a test astronaut for the Buran spacecraft. Political participation

Magomed Tolboev participated in the election race and wanted to become the head of the Republic of Dagestan, but he was supported only by 40% of voters and he was in second place. Between 1996 and 1998, the test pilot worked as a secretary in the Security Council of the Republic of Dagestan. At this post, he did a lot to prevent military operations in Dagestan. In 1996, Tolboev proposed his concept of resolving the military conflict in Chechnya.
