The future actress was born in 1930 in Nizhny Novgorod, in an intelligent family of a medical doctor and engineer. The girl grew quiet and modest, did not dream of an artistic career. The teenage years fell on hard wartime, but Lyuda was able not only to study well, but also to help her parents as much as possible.
After leaving school, the girl entered the Gorky Theater School. This happened unexpectedly: Ludmila got an audition for a company with a girlfriend and impressed the selection committee with a monologue from Ostrovsky. She was not lost during her studies, creating vivid images in student performances. After graduation, the young actress received an invitation to the Gorky Drama Theater. Here Khityaeva was offered mainly romantic roles, the beautiful and talented actress quickly acquired fans and admirers who went to each performance with her participation.
Movie career
Khityaeva’s film career began triumphantly - with the main role in the film of Isidor Annensky "Ekaterina Voronina." This work became iconic - the beginning dramatic actress was noticed, she began to receive promising offers from directors. The next significant role was Daria in the picture of Gerasimov "Quiet Don". Lyudmila herself doubted that she could do the role of a reckless and crafty conqueror of hearts, however, the director managed to convince the actress. As a result, Daria became one of the most memorable and multifaceted characters in the picture, and Khityaeva gained national fame.
Among Lyudmila's favorite roles are Lushka from Raised Virgin Soil, Evdokia from the picture of the same name dedicated to the fate of the mother of adopted children, Galina from the comedy Streak, Solokha from the movie "Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka". In total, there are about 50 roles in the list of Khityaeva: main, secondary and even episodic. The actress gladly took up interesting diverse work, trying to avoid cliches and repetitions of her own creative finds. She managed not to get lost in difficult post-perestroika times. Lyudmila starred in television films and series, in 2014 she hosted the program “Your Case” on one of the federal channels.
Khityaeva’s work was highly appreciated not only by ordinary viewers and directors. In 1965, Lyudmila Ivanovna received the title of Honored Artist of the USSR, since 1983 she is People's Artist of the RSFSR.
