How did a university teacher become a millionaire? Leonid Arnoldovich Fedun, a talented businessman, a unique speaker, an ardent football fan, and the vice president of Lukoil, can give a detailed answer to this question. It was oratory that became for him a kind of ticket to business. And it was he who became one of the leading innovators in the field of innovation in the management of large private enterprises.
Biography
Leonid Fedun was born in Kiev in early April 1956, and all his childhood passed near Baikonur, in a town called Leninsk, where his father, a military doctor by profession, served. There is no exact data on the nationality of the businessman. According to some, he is Ukrainian, according to others - a Jew.
The boy grew up in severity, from early childhood he was accustomed to order, hard work, demanded to take school sciences seriously. But Leonid was not deprived by the love of his parents. And now Fedun is pleased to recall how his father transported him to rocket launches, as he talked about his work with astronauts.
The boy dreamed of becoming a military man, and after school (1973) he entered the Rostov Higher Military Command School. After 4 years, he also entered the postgraduate course of the Dzerzhinsky Military Academy. There he then taught sociology for several years. So began the career path of the future businessman-millionaire.
Initially, Leonid Arnoldovich planned to develop in a specialized direction, in 1984 he defended his thesis on philosophy, and by the beginning of the 90s he became a colonel. But an accident led him into entrepreneurship. More precisely, his oratory talent, the gift of persuasion, and the ability to present the simple are interesting and fascinating.
Career
In 1987, wanting to earn some money, Leonid Fedun, in parallel with teaching at the Academy, began to give lectures in the society "Knowledge". They enjoyed wildly popular thanks to the natural charisma and charm of the lecturer. The topics were quite difficult for perception - philosophy, political economy, history, but they always had a full house. They brought Fedun into business. Speech by Leonid Arnoldovich in the oil industry of Kogalym attracted the attention of the leaders of Kogalymneftegaz. He was offered a job at the enterprise, and he gave his consent.
In 1990, Fedun, together with his immediate superior, Alekperov Vagit, moved to the capital and joined the Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry. It was there that the foundation of Lukoil began, in the same period of his career Leonid created the consulting company Neftkonsult.
After the collapse of the USSR (1992), Fedun was engaged in the purchase of shares of oil enterprises in favor of Lukoil in the framework of privatization, in fact, he took a leading position in the future largest concern. A year later, he officially resigned from the Armed Forces, graduated from the Higher School of Entrepreneurship and Privatization, and took the post of vice president of Lukoil.
Leonid Arnoldovich did a lot for Lukoil - increased the efficiency of the concern, gathered a lot of small and large oil producing and refining enterprises under his wing, making him the main supplier of fuel for law enforcement agencies and the army. He did not forget his offspring - he developed Lukoil Consulting (formerly Neftkonsult), and founded the investment and financial house Kapital.
Buying a Football Club
Despite his success and achievements, Leonid Fedun always remained in the shadow of his partners and enterprises. The general public recognized his name after buying his main stake in Spartak football club. He was an ardent fan, a fan of this particular team, and when the occasion turned up, he bought a club from Andrei Chervichenko. This was a significant event in 2003, and the amount spent on this acquisition, according to some sources, amounted to $ 70 million. In total included both personal funds of Leonid Arnoldovich and the investments of Lukoil shareholders.
The investments were justified - the Spartak club soon entered the Champions League after the purchase. Fedun introduced entrepreneurial techniques into the sports field - the so-called transfer policy. He began to practice selling and buying players, even renting them out to other clubs. The club and the players themselves turned out to be in plus - they not only received profitable contracts, but also had the opportunity to train with different mentors and bring new experience to the Spartak team. In addition, the club shares appeared on the stock exchange, which became a source of new financial injections.
Fedun entrusted the management of Spartak football club to his younger brother Andrei, and he lived up to his expectations. But Leonid Arnoldovich himself does not forget about the team - he does not miss a single match, often in training, and supports the club financially.
