How did it all start?
Mario Sorrenti was born on October 24, 1971 in a creative family in Naples (Italy). His mother was an advertising agent, and his father was an artist. In addition to Mario, parents raised two more children: David and Vanina, who later also became photographers.
In 1981, the Sorrenti family moved to New York. A colorful metropolis with an abundance of colors and movement became the main inspiration for the future photographer Mario. His passion appeared after the first works of his brother David. The latter belongs to the creation of the “heroin chic” trend in photography. This is an image of very thin models without losing their grace and attractiveness. However, due to drug addiction, David died when he was barely 20 years old, and Mario wrote a book in memory of his brother.
First successes
Coming out of the shadow of his brother after the tragedy, Sorrenti took part in the Obsession advertising campaign for the famous brand Calvin Klein. The model then was a young and unknown to anyone Kate Moss. The shooting took place outdoors, and the result of this creative tandem was incredible, stylish photographs that were exhibited in New York, London, Paris, Monaco. This was the first resounding success of Mario Sorrenti.
Confession
In 2004, a personal exhibition of the photographer was held in New York. Everything was done in the loft style: furnishings, clippings from magazines and newspapers, polaroid images depicting elegant naked girls with tousled hair.
The exhibition had the desired effect on visitors. Soon, Mario was invited to conduct a portrait photo shoot of actress Winona Ryder. And in 2008, Sorrenti's works were published in the November issue of the Paris Vogue. It was a shooting of "30 vs 17", the main models of which were Anna Selezneva and Eva Herzigova.
Since then, Mario Sorrenti has been actively cooperating with the brands Max Mara, Kenzo, Mango, Bulgari, Armani and others. His photographs are regularly published in the magazines GQ, Playboy, Vogue.
