On September 1, Russia entered into force a law on the protection of children from information that could harm their health and development. This bill gave rise to many doubts and indignant statements among the adult population of the country.

According to the new law, children (and all those under the age of eighteen) should not be confronted with works that portray scenes of pornography, violence, disrespect for elders, neglect of family values, use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Media workers are required to label their products according to their age. Broadcasts for adults will be broadcast after 23 hours, books of "adult" subjects can be obtained in the library only after presenting a passport.
The main fear expressed by the Russians is that under fuzzy wording of the law, almost any information that is publicly available can be summarized. This gives the state the opportunity to censor objectionable information, justifying it as harm to the younger generation. However, the President of the Russian Federation has already stated that the law will not become a tool in the fight against Internet sites.
There are also “victims” of the new bill. The first sign was the film "Anatomy of the Tatu" - an autobiography of the famous pop group. The television channel "Culture" refused to show it in the evening, deciding not to risk it, postponing the broadcast to the evening. True, the right to show the film was immediately bought by MTV.
Some Soviet cartoons almost fell into disgrace - "Wait a minute, " "Crocodile Gena and Cheburashka." The reason is simple - the main characters of these animated films appear in front of a young audience with a pipe or cigarette in their teeth. The amendment of Roskomnadzor saved them. “Harmful” works of historical or cultural value are allowed to be viewed by minors.
Not so lucky western cartoons. The Simpsons was censored - they will remove the Tickle and Scratch Show, which Lisa and Bart loved to watch. The animated series "South Park", in which Kenny is regularly killed, had to be removed for violence scenes late in the evening.
