Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 will be represented by the previously unknown musical group Buranovsky Granny among the general public. However, it has a rich history. It was created back in the seventies as a folk group performing songs in the Udmurt language. A few years before Eurovision 2012, the team included in the repertoire songs of famous performers from Russia and other countries in the Udmurt language in a specific musical treatment. A feature of this ensemble is also the age of the performers. Most often, young singers take part in the European competition, and the majority of performers of the Russian ensemble are over 70 years old. This team twice participated in the qualifying competition to represent Russia at a music festival. The second time their participation was successful. Performers will defend the honor of Russia at Eurovision with the song "Party for Everybody".

Together with the Russian ensemble, the representative of Latvia with the stage name Anmari will perform in the first semi-final of Eurovision. Her real name is Linda Amantova, and in various interviews she talked about her Russian origin.

Most artists have chosen English for their songs. However, there are exceptions. Albanian spokeswoman Rona Nishliu will sing in her own language. The Swedish singer Pernilla Karlsson, representing the country of the same name, chose her composition. Also, traditionally in the national language, the representative of Portugal, Filip Sozo, will sing. And the Austrian duet Trackshittaz decided to sing a song in the Bavarian dialect.

From the host country of Eurovision, Sabina Babaeva will speak. She had previously tried to enter the competition, but failed in the national qualifying round. Prior to that, she participated in other vocal competitions, and also performed a song, which will become the soundtrack to the series known in Azerbaijan.
