Biography of Sergei Shargunov
Sergey Shargunov was born on May 12, 1980 in Moscow. His father, Alexander Shargunov, knew 5 foreign languages, taught at various educational institutions of the capital, and even served as a priest. Mother - Anna Shargunova restored icons, painted and was known in a narrow circle of writers.
Sergey grew up in a beautiful and intelligent family, so he himself received a good education. After leaving school, he entered the journalism department of one of the most prestigious higher institutions of the capital. Already at the age of 19, the works written by the young man were published in the journal New World. The publication was published not only prose, but with a critical bias copyright articles. At the age of 21, he unexpectedly became the winner of the Debut Prize for the written novel The Kid is Punished. From an early age, Sergey took an active life position. He transferred his fee from the first prize to pay for the services of lawyers who helped the politician Eduard Limonov, who was under arrest at that time.
Journalism and writing
In 2002-2003, Sergey worked actively at Novaya Gazeta. Collaboration with the publication was to write articles for the investigation department. After breaking the contract with the publishing house, Shargunov became a columnist for Nezavisimaya Gazeta. For 4 years, a talented journalist led the Fresh Blood project. From the very beginning of his professional career, he showed himself to be a bright, principled and very intelligent person. The ratings of the programs with his participation were consistently high.
Shargunov was always devoted to his work and was not afraid to raise sensitive issues. In 2008, he worked in very dangerous conditions in South Ossetia as a war journalist. In 2014, he went to the Donbass, where he also worked in the center of hostilities.
Cooperating with television channels, radio stations, Shargunov did not forget about his main hobby - writing books. Among his works deserve special attention:

Political activity
Sergei studied at the university and at the same time worked as an assistant to Tatyana Astrakhankina, who is a deputy of the Communist Party of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. In 2004, a talented journalist, together with his literary friends, created their own initiative movement “Hurray!”. Young people staged actions on the street, literary evenings. The aim of all these events was to draw attention to acute problems and to introduce young people to literature. Activists collaborated with Rogozin Dmitry and his young party, Rodina. In 2005, Sergey Shargunov tried himself in a new capacity. He himself created the youth union “For Homeland!”.
In 2007, Shargunov was accepted into the Just Russia party, but after a few months he left its ranks. Some of his beliefs ran counter to the ideas of the party.
In 2006, Shargunov became a deputy from the Communist Party. A little later, he was elected a member of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs. In politics, Sergei showed himself to be a very principled and rather sharp person. Shargunov repeatedly proved that he is a patriot of his country. However, his name was implicated in some scandals. In 2012, he outlined his position regarding Pussy Riot. The politician condemned the actions of the leaders of the punk group, but considered that they did not need to be arrested. The writer is known for his democratic views. He believes that repression by the state will not lead to anything good. Statements regarding the scandalous trick of a group of girls in the church outraged some Shargunov's colleagues and they reminded him that his father was a clergyman.
