A folk tale about a small tower, which became home to many animals and destroyed by a bear, was literaryly edited by many Russian writers. The plot and character set of the tale by different authors of "Teremka" is slightly different. Who wrote "Teremok" and what features do different versions of this tale have?
"Teremok" by Mikhail Bulatov: one of the most popular versions of the tale
One of the most popular versions of the fairy tale "Teremok" is the literary treatment of the national plot by writer and folklorist Mikhail Bulatov, who specialized in the oral art of the peoples of the USSR.
“It stands in the field of the tower. It is not low, not high” - with these words begins “Teremok” in the retelling of Bulatov. In the house, a mouse-louse first settles in, then a frog-croak and a bunny runaway join it. Then they invite the sister-fox to live in their house, and the top-gray barrel is the last tenant of the tower. The animals were invited to him and the club-footed bear, but he could not fit in the house, tried to climb on the roof and eventually crushed the tower. But no one was hurt, all the inhabitants of the fairy-tale house remained intact, and as a result, in the finale of the fairy tale, they built a new tower for themselves - better than before. It is not known, however, whether the bear took part in this construction - the plot is silent about this.
The plot of Alexei Tolstoy: a tower from the pot
Alexei Nikolayevich Tolstoy was also seriously engaged in preparing for print collections of Russian folk tales, and the fairy tale "Teremok" under his editing can be seen quite often.
In Tolstoy's version, the clay pot lost by the peasant acts as a tower, and its first inhabitants are insects: a fly-grief and a mosquito-squeak. Then a small living creature settles in the small tower - a mouse-rattle and a frog-croak. Then - a cudgler, a hill-hopper; the fox - during the conversation, beauty, and finally - the wolf-wolf - because of the bush grab. The last, as usual, is a bear, sits on a pot and crushes it, scaring all the inhabitants of the house. Moreover, in this version of the tale, the bear destroys the teremok not by chance, but purposefully, announcing that he is "all bored."
By the way, the version of Tolstoy with the adaptation of a pot for housing is very close to many folk versions of the tale, where lost dishes, mittens, and even animal skulls can play the role of a tower.
The author of "Teremka" with a happy ending: Vladimir Suteev
The famous children's writer and illustrator Vladimir Suteev also did not pass by "Teremka". Its author’s edition of the famous fairy tale was accompanied by author’s, vivid and memorable illustrations.
"Teremok", authored by Vladimir Suteev, begins with the fact that Mukha-Goryuha flew through the forest, sat down to rest and suddenly saw a teremok in the grass - and settled in it. It was followed by Mouse-Norushka, Frog-Kvakushka, then - Cockerel-Golden Scallop, and finally Bunny-Run. All animals asked permission to live in a small tower - and everyone was invited with pleasure to join a friendly company of residents. But the Bear, who asked to enter the house to hide from the rain - refused, too big. Then the frozen Bear decided to warm up on the roof of the warm chimney of the house and crushed the tower. But the Bear was polite - he apologized. The animals forgave him, but on condition that he would help rebuild the house. And they together built a new house where they fit six, and there was still room for guests.
Of all the versions of "Teremka" this is perhaps the kindest and friendliest, it is not surprising that she was so fond of both children and adults.
