Every country that wants to maintain its sovereignty is obliged to take measures to protect state borders. The borders of Russia stretch for tens of thousands of kilometers; they pass through water, by land and by air. Border troops guard the frontiers of the Fatherland - the color and elite of the army. Border Guard Day, celebrated annually in Russia, is respected by every citizen of the country.

Defenders of State Borders
The need for armed protection of the borders of Russia arose a long time ago - since the time when a single ancient Russian state began to form. If an enemy attacked a country, all residents of the state stood up to defend it. In peacetime, however, border guard was carried out by special units, making sure that the enemy did not attack unexpectedly and catch the country by surprise.
The first frontier guards can be considered warriors who were on guard duty as part of special units.
Over time, the state borders of Russia are clearly defined. Frontiers were marked by outposts fenced by earthen ramparts. In such fortified places there was always an armed border guard. Her responsibilities included the protection of fortifications and regular detours of the border as part of watch divisions.
Border guards regularly carried out their duty to their homeland, daily monitoring order in the border regions of the country. The border control center was located in the capital of the state and was called the Border Guard Directorate. This was the situation before the beginning of the October Revolution in 1917, after which chaos and confusion reigned for some time in border protection affairs.
