Jürgen Klopp was born back in 1967 on June 16. The family already had two girls, but the father really wanted a son. And when the boy was born, the joy of his father knew no bounds. From an early age, Jürgen began to play football. His father, Norbert Klopp, was a goalkeeper and was even watched at the Kaiserslautern, but remained at an amateur level. Having failed, the father decided at all costs to make his son a professional football player. Little Jürgen was not given any concessions. In winter, he went skiing, and in the summer he played tennis with his father, the rest of the time was reserved for football. My father was more agile and stronger and at the same time he never succumbed, it tempered the character of the future footballer and coach.
Jürgen Klopp replaced a huge number of clubs at the youth and adult levels before he was able to achieve at least some results. He could really play only in 1990 at Mainz 05, at that time it was the club of the second division of Germany. In it, Jürgen spent 325 matches, and during this time he scored 52 goals.
Coaching career
In 2001, Klopp took over as head coach of Mainz 05 as a temporary replacement. But thanks to his high-quality work and high results, he took this place on an ongoing basis. In just three years at the club, Klopp managed to bring the club to the top division of Germany, where he finished 11th at the end of the season.
In 2005, Mainz 05, led by Klopp, achieved incredible success, they made it to the Champions League qualification, but in the third round they lost to the current champions - Sevilla club from Spain. In 2007, the club could not stay in the Bundesliga and flew into the second division. In 2008, Klopp announced that he would leave the team if they could not return to the Bundesliga. The club could not break into the top division, and on June 30, 2008 Klopp resigned as head coach.
Since July 1, 2008, Jurgen Klopp became the head coach of the Dortmund Borussia. Thanks to work in this team, Klopp became known not only in Germany, but throughout the world. Over the 7 years of his work, “Borussia” twice became the champion of Germany, won the German Cup, and even became the finalist of the Champions League in 2013, where in the purely German final lost to Munich “Bavaria” with a score of 1-2.
In the same year, an agreement was reached with the club on the extension of the powers of the head coach until 2018. But for two seasons, “Borussia” could not win anything, and in 2015, the club management announced the departure of the head coach.
In October of that year, Klopp headed the English club Liverpool, where he still works.
