This priest spent all his money on enlightening the common people. As a result, he managed to make enemies who did everything so that during his life he would not see the rewards for his labors.
Among the clergy there are a variety of characters. Some are building careers using the gullibility of people and juggling quotes from the gospel, someone is trying to follow the path of Christ, periodically committing ridiculous things, and only a few keep up with the times and provide real help to those in need. Correctly understood the instructions of Jesus and our hero.
Childhood
Cyril was born in March 1774. His father Basil was a priest in Novomirgorod near Elizavetgrad. These were the lands of the Zaporizhzhya Army, the frontier of the Russian Empire, until recently the Commonwealth claimed them, periodically raids on local settlers were made by Turks and Tatars. In the year of birth of the future enlightener, there was just a Russian-Turkish war, but the head of the family did not leave his native places and his flock.

The child grew up under the strong influence of parents. He was being prepared for a spiritual career. As soon as Rossinsky Jr. reached adolescence, he was sent to the Novorossiysk Theological Seminary to receive appropriate education. The boy watched the development of lands that had recently been recaptured from the Shining Port. It seemed that here the mother empress would be able to build a perfect new world.
Youth
Studying at the senior courses of the seminary, Cyril chose the activities of a preacher as his specialization. In 1795, he was consecrated to the clergyman for his conduct. True, to go on a pilgrimage immediately after graduation, the guy did not work out - he was offered to engage in teaching activities in alma mater. Rossinsky was entrusted with the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin in his native Novomirgorod. Beginner was strictly monitored. It soon became clear that this man was in his place - he led a life that was fully consistent with his rank, was attentive to the parishioners, and literate in sermons. The latter were so good that the diocesan authorities invited Cyril to teach novice priests this art.
Difficult task
Competent theologians of the church were needed. In 1800, Cyril Rossinsky became archpriest and was transferred to Taganrog. Here his performances from the department were especially liked by the Cossacks. In 1803, a delegation from the Black Sea Army appeared to Archbishop Athanasius Ivanov. The soldiers asked to send a priest of the Taganrog priest to them. The Holy Father agreed.

Having become an army archpriest, Rossinsky conducted a "troop review". It turned out that under his leadership there are only 10 people of clergy who can serve in 4 temples. The situation was even worse with schools - in the region there was only one educational institution where children could learn the basics of reading and writing. Our hero did not despair, he began to use his high rank in order to rectify the situation.
In the home
The spiritual father of the Black Sea army turned to the people for help. He looked for people who were ready to preach the Gospel, helped them to raise the level of knowledge and sent them to the higher ranks of the church for erection, bypassing the seminary. Kirill Vasilyevich was previously engaged in teaching, so he managed to get acquainted with young people who were ready to go to the border lands as confessors. He invited them to new lands.
Krasnodar, formerly Ekaterinodar, the city where Kirill Rossinsky lived and worked
The construction of temples and educational institutions had to be done on their own. Cyril Rossinsky began collecting donations from the population for the needs of the church and education. Very quickly the treasury was filled, it became possible to build churches and open schools. In 1806, a district school opened its doors in Yekaterinodar. The military chancellery undertook to support him financially. Rossinsky was appointed overseer of this institution. There was little high rank for him; he read the law of God for students.
Needed by the world
In 1809, a tragedy occurred in the personal life of our hero - his wife died. The widower asked him to go to the monastery, but the church leadership refused. Cyril Rossinsky began to seek solace in creativity. Soon he became a member of the St. Petersburg Free Society of lovers of Russian literature. Having a penchant for science, he became interested in spelling rules and in 1815 published a book devoted to this issue.
The holy husband was spotted in the capital. In 1812, when all of Russia was undergoing the invasion of Napoleonic troops and was delighted with the courage of its sons, the contribution of Cyril Rossinsky to the development of the south of the country was marked with the Order of St. Anna of the III degree. After 7 years, our hero took on the realization of his dream - the opening of a gymnasium in Yekaterinodar.
