The real name of the famous doctor is Philip Aureol Theofrast Bombast von Hohenheim. The pseudonym Paracelsus, which means "similar to Celsus, " he either chose for himself or received doctors from his colleagues.
Philip Aureol Theophrast Bombast von Hohenheim was born in the city of Aig on September 21, 1493 in the family of a doctor. His parents belonged to an old, but impoverished noble family. Paracelsus received an excellent education, which included medicine and compulsory noble lessons. These include fencing, philosophy, etc.
Paracelsus graduated from the University of Basel, after which he studied alchemy, with one of the most famous adepts of magic and astrology, Abbot Johann Tritemius. At the University of Ferrar he received a doctorate in medicine. After studying, Paracelsus traveled a lot around the world.
He has visited many universities in Europe. He participated as a surgeon in many military companies. According to rumors, in his travels Paracelsus reached North Africa, Russia, Constantinople and Palestine. The knowledge gained by him in these wanderings was vast and unique. This knowledge allowed him to create his own unique treatment methods.
Upon returning home, Paracelsus became the city doctor of Basel, in addition to this he began to give lectures at the University of Basel. He taught classes in German, unlike his colleagues who used Latin. In addition, all his performances were original and based on personal experience.
