The older generation of Russians loves to recall how many interesting presses were printed during Soviet times. Then in each mailbox postmen brought not only newspapers, but also magazines - literary, children's, educational and professional. Some publications could not stand the competition or lost relevance in the 1990s. But there are those that have been preserved and published to this day.

About books and nature
Some former Soviet magazines actually survived more than one formation change because they appeared in tsarist Russia. Among them is "Around the World", created back in 1860. This is one of the most circulation magazines in our country today. The number of copies reaches 250 thousand. In each issue you can read about events that took place in different parts of the world in the same month of a certain year, about the history of familiar things, about the lives of people in different countries and the stories of travelers. The texts are richly illustrated, including photographs from exotic countries, from space. In addition, the editorial staff selects interesting reviews of new products, drinks, cars, health products, the book market and introduces interesting notes from the magazine’s archive.
From literary magazines in Russia, for example, the New World continues to be published. Due to the liberal orientation and the publication of previously banned works, the publication gained particular popularity in the 1960s, and reached a peak in popularity in 1990, when the circulation amounted to 2.6 million copies. Now the circulation is between 4000 and 7000 copies. The editors consider conservatism, academicism and historicism to be their main principles.
The Soviet magazine Roman-Gazeta also survived the change of eras. It still publishes the works of venerable and young authors on both topical issues and the history of the country.
Today, the Children's Romance Newspaper is also published, in which you can familiarize yourself with prose and poetry created specifically for schoolchildren.
Fans of "Foreign Literature" also continue to read this magazine created in the USSR. He retained a substantial volume (288 pages per month) and the tradition of acquainting readers with the latest foreign literature. In it today you can be the first to read the translations of the texts of the winners of prestigious prizes - the Nobel, Booker, Gonkurovskaya.
