How many countries in the world - so many traditions. Each nation has its own customs and values. First of all, this concerns the seed structure. The Tatars have long been building their family life according to the laws of their religion - Islam. To this day, it is faith that does not allow the Tatars to dissolve among other peoples, it keeps people from eroding moral values.
Among Muslims, and in particular among Tatars, the family is very much appreciated. Marriage is considered a natural necessity for procreation. Among the Tatars, marriage is the sacred duty of any man. And the sacred duty of a woman is to be a good wife.
Since childhood
From childhood, girls are encouraged that they must obey her husband in everything. Girls are taught to keep their house clean and tidy. Little Tatars get used to obeying men from the cradle - at first they obey their father and brothers. Therefore, subsequent submission to her husband does not cause them to protest.
Since birth, little Tatars have been respected by men and senior family members. They know that when they leave for their husband’s family, they practically cease to be a member of their family, and they transfer to another.
Little girls are forced to work around the house, clean, wash, cook. All this will be useful in the future young wife. At the same time, they realize that they will not be the mistress of their husband’s house if they have to live with his parents. Therefore, Tatars marry with full awareness that this is right, so necessary.
As it was before
Previously, economic considerations largely influenced the choice of a wife. Previously, it was not so much the wife for a particular man who was chosen as the bride in the family. And the family needed a worker who was able to give birth to healthy and strong children.
The Tatar wife should have an easygoing character, be hardworking and respect the parents of her husband. Girls were selected during seasonal work. During the work, the girls were monitored and evaluated by their labor skills.
If a daughter-in-law appeared in the house, then the mother-in-law stopped doing anything at home, as it was considered her unworthy. The daughter-in-law had to get up in the morning before the mother-in-law. If the mother-in-law nevertheless was engaged in any business, then the daughter-in-law at that time could not sit back.
The wife was supposed to be 3-5 years younger than her husband. Of great importance was the social status of the future wife. The social status of the husband and wife's families should have been the same.
The wife was supposed to be of pure origin, that is, she could not be illegitimate. The wife's behavior before the wedding was supposed to be impeccable. And the girl could spoil her reputation with an extra smile or a look in the direction of men.
The wife was supposed to be a virgin. Sometimes widows were married, less often divorced. Such women still had to give birth to children.
Much attention was paid to the health of a potential daughter-in-law. She should not have had a chronic illness. Also, the family should not have inherited diseases.
