In October there are no twelve holy days, however this month one great Mother of God holiday is remembered. Also in the church calendar there are days in bold in honor of the celebration of the memory of venerated saints and icons of the Virgin.

On the first day of October, the Church remembers the miraculous image of the Blessed Virgin Mary the Healer. The icon is so named because it depicts the Virgin Mary healing a sick person. Before this, they pray to the Mother of God in various diseases. The holy image is in Moscow in the Alekseevsky convent.
On October 9, the Orthodox Church remembers the memory of St. Apostle John the Theologian and St. Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow. The holy apostle John went to the Lord that day. The saint is known for being one of the closest disciples of Christ. John is called the evangelist by the Church because he wrote the holy gospel. Saint Tikhon is one of the Russian saints of the beginning of the 20th century. He was the patriarch of all Russia. The saint is known for his outstanding pastoral care of the flock and great love for people.
On October 14, the fullness of the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates the festivities dedicated to the Virgin. This day is called the Protection of the Mother of God. The holiday is named after the event that took place in Constantinople in the X century. The Mother of God appeared to St. Righteous Andrew under the arches of the Blachernae Church. She spread her cover over the believers. Hence the name of the celebration. This day is especially revered in Russia. Evidence of this is the numerous churches consecrated in honor of the Feast of the Protection of the Mother of God.
There are other honored church days in October. So, on October 18, the memory of St. Hierarchs of Moscow and All Russia Peter, Alexy, Jonah, Philip and Hermogenes, on August 19, the memory of the Apostle Thomas, on August 23 - the Ambrose of Optina, on August 31 - the Apostle and Evangelist Luke.
