The climate of northern Africa for several millennia BC, when the ancient Egyptian civilization began to develop, almost did not differ from the modern one. Most of the year on the deserted banks of the Nile, intense heat reigned, so men wore only loincloths, and women wore light, translucent dresses with a long skirt, the cut of which reached the very thigh. Nevertheless, it was considered indecent to leave the house without decorations - rings on fingers, several rows of bracelets on hands, beads, wigs. Despite the heat, wigs were always and everywhere worn, both men and women used them, artificial hairstyles were adorned with jewelry and incense.

The morning ritual of each ancient Egyptian consisted of the obligatory washing in a special basin - "jauties". Then they rinsed their mouth with water and salt, then put on wigs and jewelry. Noble Egyptians preen themselves with the help of their servants, among whom were hairdressers, incense specialists and even makeup artists - not only women, but also men often turned their eyes with special colored powders. This was done not only for beauty, such makeup protected the eyes and eyelids from the bright sun and insect bites.

The ancient Egyptians ate quite variedly, on their tables were meat, fruits, vegetables. The inhabitants of ancient Egypt were engaged in breeding chickens, geese and ducks, cattle were kept as sacrificial animals, which were eaten on holidays. Most of the meat was obtained by hunting. There were few fish in the diet of the ancient Egyptians, since fishing was considered a very dangerous industry because of the large number of crocodiles in the Nile. Vegetables and fruits were necessarily present on the menu of any Egyptian, both poor and noble. Garlic, bananas and melons were especially appreciated. The poor ate the stems of papyrus, and the rich could afford rare peaches, cherries and pears. The most valuable food of all segments of the population is bread and pies with various fillings.

The main occupation of the ancient Egyptians was agriculture, a few millennia BC they invented a field irrigation system, which made it possible to increase the productivity of dry and desert Egyptian land. The Egyptians also gardened, cultivated grapes, mined gold, stone, copper, weaved, produced papyrus, made pottery and traded with the inhabitants of the islands of the Aegean Sea.
