Every day, at home and at work, we consume electricity. If organizations pay bills for electricity in offices, workshops, and factories on bills issued by energy retail companies, then people need to fill out receipts on their own to pay for electricity and calculate the amount that must be paid based on the readings of electricity meters. The appearance of receipts for payment of energy is different, depending on the payee.

1
Fields "Name and "Address".
Everything is simple here - enter in the columns, respectively, the name of the payer and the address at which electricity was consumed.
So that the payment is not lost and was credited precisely to your account, a receipt is provided in the field for information about the subscriber. This can be a personal account number or a contract number. In Mosenergo receipts, for example, this is the subscriber's number. It consists of 10 digits. The first 5 digits - the book number, the second 3 digits - the subscriber’s number directly, they are written on the cover page of the book on electricity payment, they can also be clarified by calling the energy sales company. For each subscriber they are their own and are permanent. The last two digits are the control digit.
2
Field "Period".
This refers to the time period, namely the period of time for which we pay for electricity. Usually in the forms of receipts it is understood that a certain month will be in this field. After all, once a month it is required to pay for the consumed energy. But in general, the payment period can be anything: no one can forbid you to pay for electricity every week and no one is immune from the fact that due to lack of time, he will miss the next payment and have to pay two months at once.
3
Fields for meter readings.
"Current counter reading."
In this field, enter the numbers that your counter showed at the end of the paid period. When paying for the March electricity, the meter readings are entered here as of March 31, for example, 29960 kWh. Counters usually show a five-digit value of the consumed energy, but old samples with four digits are still found. If the last digit on the counter is separated from the rest by a dot or comma, it does not need to be taken into account - these are tenths of a kilowatt-hour.
4
"Previous counter reading"
In this field, carefully rewrite the numbers from the last paid receipt, you need those that were listed as "current" in it. For example, in the February receipt, the field “Current counter reading” looked like 29632, these numbers should be put in March in the column “Previous counter reading”.
5
Calculation of electricity consumption.
From the column "Current meter reading" the value of the column "Previous meter reading" is taken away (for example, 29960 - 29632 = 328) and the resulting difference is recorded in the column "Electricity consumption".
6
Calculation of the amount required for payment.
For this you need to know the tariff valid for the payment period (the cost of one kilowatt hour of consumed electricity). In different regions it can be different, in addition, it changes over time (usually once a year and usually upwards). For example, in 2010, the cost of kWh in Moscow was 3 rubles. 45 kopecks, and in 2011 it became equal to 3 rubles. 80 kopecks. So, multiply the value from the column "Electricity consumption" by the current tariff.
For example, 328 * 3.80 = 1246.40 - the value for the column "Sum". This means that 1246 rubles. 40 kopecks You will need to attach it to the receipt in order to pay it at the payment acceptance point.
Useful advice
Often, companies selling us light offer to pay for receipts already filled out by them, distributed through the mailbox. The amount in these receipts is not tied to the meter reading, but is calculated on the basis of data on the average energy consumption. Once or twice a year, so-called corrective receipts are issued, which increase or decrease the amount you pay depending on the actual expense. If filling out a receipt causes you serious difficulties, perhaps paying for ready-made receipts is your lifeline.
