If you want to join the SJR and you are eighteen years old, contact your local representative office. Accordingly, if you live in the capital, take the documents to the Union of Journalists in Moscow, if you are in St. Petersburg - to the St. Petersburg Creative Union of Journalists, etc.

First prepare the documents. You will need an autobiography, a certificate of employment or a document confirming your professional activity, 3 photos of 3x4 cm and 2 recommendations that must be written by members of the WJR with at least 3 years of experience.

Write the application on the form. Take it to the secretariat of the Union of Journalists. Do not forget to attach a list of your published works to the package of documents.

If you are a citizen of a foreign country and carry out journalistic activities in Russia, you too can count on joining the SJR. Submit the required documents to the structural units at the location or to the secretariat. However, keep in mind that your membership in the SJR will end after the expiration of the employment relationship with the Russian employer.

Wait for the commission to decide. It will take about three months. If everything is in order, after this period the secretariat will issue your membership card. If you find any violations or discrepancies with the requirements of the charter, you will be refused a ticket.

If you have Russian citizenship and you were previously a member of the Union of Journalists of the USSR (or one of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation), you will automatically become a member of the Union of Journalists.
