Childhood and youth
It is not so easy for a multi-talented person to choose his life path. This old truth has long been known, but young people very often do not perceive it. Anatoly A. Kelmi was born on April 21, 1955 in an ordinary Soviet family. Tolya turned out to be the youngest child in the house. Parents lived in Moscow. My father worked in the Metrostroy trust as the head of the tunneling section. Mother worked in the technical department. The laying of the metro was carried out at a high pace. Despite this, a comfortable apartment metro builders got only for the fifth anniversary of their youngest son.
The future composer and singer from an early age demonstrated his musical abilities. This was noticed by relatives, acquaintances, and even strangers. When the boy was seven years old, he was enrolled in two schools at once - general education and music. With a serious load, he managed to visit the football section at first, from which he later turned to the tennis section. Kelmi's athletic success also impressed others. He fulfilled the norm of a candidate for master of sports, and was one of the top three tennis players in Moscow among juniors.
Musical creativity
Already in his school years, Kelmi took his music classes seriously. Together with his classmates, he organized the rock group "Sadko". By this time he received a passport in which he indicated his new name Chris. Having received a certificate of maturity, a high school graduate entered the Moscow Institute of Transport Engineers (MIIT). This university is famous for the fact that within its walls a whole galaxy of famous musicians has grown. In 1977, Kelmi received a diploma and even entered graduate school. But the music did not let go of the engineer engineer. Three years later, the group "Autograph", which he created, takes 2nd place at the festival in Tbilisi, leaving only the "Time Machine" ahead.
In 1980, the chief director of the Lenkom Theater, Mark Zakharov, invited Chris to create a musical group within the theater troupe. The group received the name "Rock Atelier". For more than seven years, Kelmi with his musicians participated in the famous productions of Juno and Avos, People and Birds, and The Life and Death of Joaquin Murieta. After a long collaboration, the musician left the theater and began a solo career. In the early 90s, he was invited to the United States, where Kelmi played several concerts. Chris became the first Russian musician to be shown on American TV.
