Despite the fact that the Great Patriotic War ended many decades ago, many of its veterans still live in dilapidated and dilapidated houses. They, like the inhabitants of the besieged Leningrad, have the right to receive comfortable housing at the expense of the state. True, only in the case when a veteran is recognized as in need of better housing conditions.

Instruction manual
1
Find out the sanitary standard for your living area for your federation. This can be found in the housing department of the local administration. Such information is often posted on official city sites. Veterans can be registered if the living area per one family member is less than the sanitary norm. In addition, veterans living in homes deemed unsuitable are eligible for housing improvements. This should be recognized by the interdepartmental commission of the municipality. Her inaction may be challenged in court.
2
Contact your local government housing department. The application form will be issued to you on the spot, it remains only to fill it out. Attach a photocopy of your passport. Most of the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and residents of the besieged Leningrad, they no longer require any documents. In this case, a simplified document processing scheme is in place, and all other certificates are collected by the employees of the housing department and the social welfare committee.
3
The forms of housing for veterans are different and depend on local conditions. The municipality can buy an apartment, and then provide it to a veteran on a social hiring basis. It can be privatized if the employer has not yet exercised this right. More often, veterans themselves acquire housing, having received a subsidy. The subsidy is calculated from the average cost per square meter of housing and sanitary standards. A veteran can purchase an apartment, the cost of which is equal to the size of the allocated subsidy. If he buys cheaper housing, the rest is not paid to him. To buy a more expensive apartment, you will need to pay the difference.
note
You should not try to abuse your right to improve your living conditions. Sometimes it happens that a veteran, having received a new apartment, transfers it to his children or grandchildren, and he remains in an old or uncomfortable dwelling. You can use your right to receive a subsidy or a municipal apartment on a social hiring basis only once. Legislation does not allow deliberate deterioration of their living conditions. In this case, the right to improve housing conditions is postponed for five years.
