A migration card in the Russian Federation is a document testifying to the legal crossing by a foreign citizen of a state border at established checkpoints. The appearance of the document and the order of filling are strictly defined.

Instruction manual
1
Although migration cards do not belong to strict reporting forms, they are issued to carriers, border services and other interested agencies in a strictly defined amount by representatives of the Russian migration service.
2
The obligation to fill in the card lies with the foreign citizen, so it is often possible to meet cases when foreigners fill out the card form on the bus or in the cabin, and then the finished form is handed over to the border guards.

An A5 format card form consists of two parts: the entry part and the exit part, but when you first cross the border, you need to complete both.
4
The entrance part according to the international standard is marked with the letter "A" - arrival. In a tabular form, the name of the country of entry (Russian Federation) and country of exit must be filled in sequentially in block letters of the Russian alphabet.
The details of the document - a series and a number - will be put forward by the border guards, so foreigners do not need to fill out these sections.
5
Next, you need to specify the surname, name and, if available, middle name of the entering citizen, passport details and gender. Moreover, Russian migration cards provide only two sexes, respectively, persons with a third (hen who have already received passports) will have to choose one of the available ones.
6
The purpose of the visit is filled out on the basis of the information indicated on the visa: commercial, tourist, private, etc. Citizens of countries with a visa-free entry regime need to focus on the real purpose of the trip.
7
If a foreigner does not speak Russian and cannot fill out a document in Russian, he can use the Latin alphabet, and these cards must match the data of the foreign passport of the foreigner (note that in all foreign passports, except for the language of the country of origin, there must be an alphabetic image of the name transcription, inscribed in Latin letters).
8
The lower columns of the migration card provide an indication of the duration of stay in the country and the signature of a foreign citizen.
9
Side "B" - exit, it completely duplicates the information of side "A". Between them is typographic perforation (tear line). When passing through customs control, part “A” must be given to the control officer, while part “B” remains with the citizen, who will transfer it to the receiving party for subsequent registration with the migration registration.
Useful advice
If a foreigner during his stay in the country has lost the exit unit, he will be offered to fill it again at the border. The absence of a migration card is not an obstacle to leaving the country.
