Instruction manual
1
Before your first visit, visit the library website. Write out for yourself the time of work, information about weekends and sanitary days. Usually on the site you can find information about the conditions for the provision of services, including paid ones. So you can find out in advance what library halls you will need to go to and what help you can count on.
2
Arriving at the library, leave the outerwear in the wardrobe. Even if you jumped in for a couple of minutes to pass the book, you must follow this decency rule. If you have bulk bags and bags with you, leave them in storage boxes. Unnecessary things will bother you, and the rustling of packages can distract and annoy other visitors.
3
If you seek help from a library employee, speak in an undertone so as not to distract others. Since many in the library do not just read for entertainment, but work, they need to concentrate. Any extraneous sounds can be confusing.
4
You can read the book or periodical you are interested in in the reading room of the library. At the same time, do not wrinkle or bend pages, do not underline anything in the text, even with a simple pencil. Scroll through old decrepit editions with extreme care, without rushing. Do not photograph fragments of the book. If you need some text or illustration, you can scan the document or take a photocopy from it for an additional fee. A library employee will help you with this.
5
For a while in the reading room, turn off the phone or put it into silent mode. If you got a call, even for a short conversation, go out into the corridor. It is also undesirable to talk in the library and without using a telephone. If you go there with a friend or colleague, discuss all the issues along the way. In addition, in many libraries there are halls equipped with sofas, cafes - you can always take a break and talk there.
6
If you feel like eating, don’t satisfy your hunger without leaving your book. As a rule, you can eat and drink in libraries only on the territory of buffets.
7
If possible, do not bring small children with you to the library. While you will be working with the book, the baby will get bored and will probably begin to entertain himself, interfering with others. True, some libraries have children's rooms. There you can leave your child under the supervision of experienced teachers and in company with other children.
