A person could lose the citizenship of the Russian Federation due to various circumstances. But according to the law, for a number of categories of persons who have lost citizenship, it is possible to restore it.
Instruction manual
1
Find out which category of former citizens you belong to by law. All of them are divided into two main categories - those who lost their citizenship not of their own free will and who made this decision voluntarily. The first category includes, for example, emigrants who lived on the territory of the RSFSR and, upon leaving abroad, were deprived of citizenship for this. Also to the same type of people can be attributed the inhabitants of the Crimea, who lived there until 1954, that is, the annexation of this territory by the Ukrainian SSR.
2
In case of forced deprivation of citizenship, prepare documents proving your residence in Russia, the RSFSR or the Crimea (until 1954). Such a document can serve as a passport with a stamp on registration, as well as a certificate from the local archive or municipality that you were registered in their territory. Also, if you changed your last name, you will need to show documents confirming this - a marriage or divorce certificate, as well as a name change. Additionally, a birth certificate is required. If you do not have it, get a copy in the registry office at the place of birth. Such a document will be issued regardless of your current citizenship. A passport or other identification document with a photograph issued by the country in which you are currently a citizen will serve as proof of your identity.
3
Transfer the collected documents to the Russian consulate in the country where you currently live. After reviewing your application, a decision will be made on granting or denying you citizenship. Obstacles can become factors such as a criminal record, false information about yourself when applying, and military service in a foreign country.
4
If you previously voluntarily renounced citizenship, you will have to live in Russia for at least three years, and also confirm that you have official means of subsistence in the territory of this state.
