1
Manufacturers of power supplies can be divided into three groups. The first is those companies that design and manufacture their own products. Their minority. The second group - those who are engaged in product design, but the production is entrusted to a third-party company. The third group - companies that themselves do not design and manufacture power supplies, but only add a label, box and instruction manual.
2
The quality of the power supply depends, of course, not on the brand under which it goes on sale, but on the actual manufacturer. The brand affixed to the product may be widely known, but the level of quality leaves much to be desired.
3
Sometimes an interesting situation arises when two different brands offer the same power supply. This is due to the fact that many manufacturers produce products for several brands.
4
The two companies can draw up an agreement between themselves, according to which the original manufacturer can sell products to other companies. Often, an agreement assumes that a power supply unit manufactured under one brand name will be exclusive, and other products can be sold to other companies.
5
So how can you reliably find out who is the real manufacturer of a particular power source? The easiest way is to check the appropriate registration number, which should be printed on the power supply or on a sticker to it.
6
Another way to find out the manufacturer of the power supply is to inspect the product’s internal device. This method is more reliable. Of course, opening the power supply, you lose the right to warranty service. But very often you can establish a real manufacturer by simply looking at the space between the fan blades.
7
So, most power supplies manufactured by CWT, for example, use a green insulating tape. Therefore, pay attention to transformers and other elements of the layout of the power supply. The presence of green tapes on them allows you to confidently determine the manufacturer.
