Holy water is not just water that you brought from the temple. It has healing properties, provides relief from ailments and can even heal diseases against which medicine is powerless. However, it is necessary to use holy water correctly, because in inept hands it can have no effect and lose its healing properties.

Instruction manual
1
Remember that holy water is not just a healing tincture that can be used at any time. Holy water should be used consciously and reverently. If you want to wash the patient with holy water, you must tell him about it. The effect is achieved only if a person understands and accepts what is happening. Take a small container of holy water, read a prayer above it and rinse with awe the face of the patient several times. If desired, the procedure can be accompanied by prayers and the imposition of the sign of the Cross, but this is not necessary.
2
Young children can also be washed with holy water. If the child is completely nursing, he still cannot understand the meaning of what is happening, but of course, he will feel the grace and condition of adults at the moment of bathing. Bathing babies whole in holy water is not recommended. After all, this procedure is not so much hygienic as spiritual, designed to cleanse the soul and body, wash away sins. A baby can be rinsed slightly with holy water, while saying a prayer. If the baby is already big and understands what is happening, explain to him that now he has to wash himself with holy water. Children are usually very sensitive to the grace of holy water and willingly undergo such ablutions.
3
You can wash yourself with holy water yourself. It does not really matter when exactly to do this: morning, afternoon or evening. It is important that this sacred ritual, designed to help you cleanse yourself from filth and sinful thoughts and actions, does not turn into an ordinary routine washing. It is rarely necessary to wash with holy water, but to do this every time with special reverence and joy. After all, in this way you approach the Lord, take upon himself his divine gift. Appreciate every drop of holy water and relate to the procedure of such ablution very reverently and responsibly.
note
If holy water has deteriorated, it should not be washed. Pour the remainder into the flowers or the nearest pond, and change the dishes in which they were stored and rinse thoroughly.
Useful advice
Holy water can be used not only for ablutions, but also as a medicinal drink. You can take a few sips of holy water by reading the prayer of the Lord before this. Adding holy water to food is not recommended.
