On the evening of July 27, 2012, a Russian Harvard University employee Ignatius Leshchiner went missing. Before that, he took his wife and two children to the cottage, located under Sergiev Posad. The young scientist never got back to the capital: his car was found abandoned on 55 km of the Yaroslavl highway. To date, a man has been found, but the question remains open: how did a Harvard scientist get lost in the forests near Moscow.

The parties directly or indirectly affected in this matter have several versions. For example, the wife of Ignatius Leshchiner, who filed a statement with law enforcement agencies a day after her husband disappeared, published a blog post. In it, she stated that several cars were being watched by her husband and literally "hung on the tail" all the way to the summer house. It is this state of affairs that made the man leave the car, leaving the foreign car on the highway. Concerned for his life, Ignatius did not have time to pick up either documents or money from the car.
The discovered 28-year-old scientist himself is confused in events and dates, he is extremely reluctant to answer questions from authorities. When they found him, Ignatius Leshchiner was in a half-responsible state. When asked how he got lost in the forests near Moscow, he replied that he had been hiding from the policemen chasing him with dogs and lanterns for five days. In their defense, law enforcement officials say that they found out about the disappearance of a person only a day after his disappearance.
Doctors who examined the found scientist from Harvard, who got lost in the forests near Moscow, also have their own version. According to them, Ignatius Leshchiner has signs of persecution mania, as well as hallucinations. Today, unfortunately, doctors can’t say exactly what caused such deviations. It is still not possible to interrogate the scientist. His answers contain many mysteries and confusion about dates. Only one thing is known for sure: Ignatius Leschiner fed on grass and sorrel all five days, which greatly undermined his health and, possibly, affected his psyche.
Ignatius Leshchiner was discovered in the village of Golygino, in the Sergiev Posad district. During this time, they already managed to start a criminal case against him. The Main Investigation Directorate for the Moscow Region immediately released the official version of what happened: the scientist simply got lost in the forest. Such information was provided by Irina Gumennaya, representative of the Main Investigative Directorate of the IC RF of the Moscow Region. No official explanation for why the Harvard scientist threw the car on the highway and went into the woods at night is not given.
