Instruction manual
1
When an earthquake occurs, try to stay calm and not to panic. As soon as you feel the first vibrations or jolts, act immediately. The sooner you record the initial moment of the earthquake, the more chances you will have to save your own life and the lives of others.
2
If you are on the lower floors of a building, leave it immediately and try to move to an open area. If you stayed in a building, go to the safest place. Stand in the opening of the internal doors or at a distance from the supporting walls. Try to keep your distance from windows and massive objects. Avoid being near walls inside the building. On the street, move away from the outer walls.
3
Roll out of bed if an earthquake catches you there. It will be safest to lie on the floor next to the bed. If you can’t leave the building, lie on the floor curling up. It is noticed that many animals instinctively take just such a pose. While in the office, it is best to hide under a solid desk.
4
While in a tall building, do not rush to flights of stairs or elevators. All exits can be filled with people, and problems with electricity can disable elevators. Do not stand on stairs during an earthquake. This is the most fragile element in the building. Even if the staircases are intact, they can collapse under the weight of people that have accumulated over the spans.
5
On the street you are not near tall structures, bridges and overpasses and power lines.
6
If you are in a vehicle, leave it. And you'd better be in a pose lying next to him, on the ground.
7
Check for injuries around you, when a rescue team appears, be sure to notify them of this. If possible, provide assistance to those in need.
8
If you live in an earthquake-prone zone, collect all the necessary things (documents, a medical kit) in a bag in advance, and keep it ready.
