Memorial monuments of World War II 1941-1945 scattered throughout our country. They were installed in those areas where hostilities did not take place, but whose inhabitants took part in the battles and died in them. Despite the fact that more than 75 years have passed, only some monuments are registered in official registers. Therefore, you can independently make a list of World War II memorials in the region where you live.

Instruction manual
1
Memorials and monuments dedicated to the participants and events of World War II were erected in droves since the mid 60-ies of the last century, they were dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the victory. There are government organizations that maintain a register of such memorials. These include the Committees for the preservation of historical and cultural monuments, which operate under the authorities, in the administration of your area, as well as military commissariats.
2
Write a request in the name of the head of the Committee or the district military commissar with a request to provide available information about such monuments. Well, if it is possible to obtain such a list in electronic form. Such information does not apply to those that constitute a state secret, so an answer should be provided to you within a month.
3
Find out what public organizations in your area collect information about memorial burials, contact such a request and there. Offer them cooperation in compiling a catalog of World War II monuments, they will be happy to take part in your work and provide all available information.
4
In the event that hostilities were fought in your area, it is possible that there are still mass and solitary graves that are not recorded in any registry. Do your own search work. To do this, just find on the Internet or special literature information about the battles that took place in your area. Mark the settlements near which there were fights.
5
This information can be found on the website of the Ministry of Defense of the OBD "Memorial", which has information on "Irrecoverable Losses", i.e. about the missing and the dead. Make a selection, activate the search field "Search for burials", indicating the place of death of your area. Upon request, you will be provided with a list with the names of settlements, which are the place of mass death of fighters of the Red Army. Go to these places, ask the locals, collect information about the graves.
6
Organize the information received, make a database with which it will be convenient to work. Enter in it all the information that you managed to collect. Make a map of your area and put on it the places where monuments, obelisks, sculptural groups and mass graves of soldiers of the Great Patriotic War are located.
