Arriving in Moscow, every foreign citizen or citizen of the Russian Federation living in another city must register for registration - this is required by the legislation of the Russian Federation.
Instruction manual
1
A visitor is registered at the place of stay, therefore, if you live in a hotel or a boarding house, then you do not need to do anything. The administration itself will inform you where you need about the address of your residence.
2
To register in a rented apartment, collect the following documents: - application for registration at the place of stay (form 1, take the form in the passport office); - identity document (passport / birth certificate for children under 14 years old); - statement of the homeowner (if necessary, a contract of employment or gratuitous use, certified by a notary); - if the apartment is not municipal - a certificate of ownership and a photocopy; - a copy of the financial and personal account of the owner of the apartment; - a photocopy of passports - yours and landlord; - photograph.
3
If the owner of the apartment is wary of registering you in his living space, explain to him that this does not threaten him. Registration does not give you any rights to housing and at the end of the provision period it is automatically canceled, without requiring any action from the owner of the apartment.
4
Take the collected documents to the EIRC (Unified Information Settlement Center). Immediately get, if necessary, a certificate stating that the owner has no debts for utility bills and the availability of available square meters - according to sanitary standards, each registered person should have from 6 m².
5
Take the completed documents to the FMS, after three days, the temporary registration should be ready, but this is in theory. In practice, the process can be delayed, since queues are possible both in the FMS and in the EIRC.
6
If you are not a resident of the Russian Federation, then for registration you will need: a copy of the passport (a page with a photo and a page with a visa), a copy of the migration card, a notarized translation of the passport and all the same documents as for Russian citizens.
note
If you arrived in Moscow for a period of not more than 90 days, then registration is not necessary. In this case, it is advisable to have a ticket with you to confirm the time of arrival in the city.
Foreign citizens, however, need to notify the FMS of Russia of their whereabouts and apply for registration if they plan to spend more than three business days in Moscow.
Helpful advice
Make a temporary registration yourself - certificates provided by companies may turn out to be fake, or they may put you into an apartment without the knowledge of the owner, and this can cause you a lot of trouble.
