The easiest way to refine the index is to ask a question at the post office. This can be done both by phone and in person. In post offices, the index is usually indicated on information boards or posted in a conspicuous place.
2
In Soviet times, zip codes were often written in doorways and on mailboxes for sending letters. In some houses, you can still find a zip code. Indexes have not changed since then, so you can also confidently trust the data on old envelopes and postcards.
3
If you have Internet access, you can find out the zip code or refine it in minutes. To do this, go to http://postindex.otrok.ru and select the city you need if it is a large subject of the Russian Federation, or region.
4
On the next page of the site you can choose your locality or go directly to the search on the streets. For ease of search, all streets are sorted alphabetically.
5
Street selected. Now on the new page you need to find your house number. Again, for your convenience, house numbers are divided into two groups: even (H) and odd (H).
6
The site itself will indicate your zip code. In the same way, you can find the destination index from anywhere in Russia.
note
All postal codes in the Russian Federation are six-digit. The first four digits indicate the region and location.
Helpful advice
If you put zeros instead of the last two digits in the zip code, the departure will go to the main post office in your city or district center and from there it will be sent to your address.
