The desire to participate in the lives of children who are raised outside the family, deprived of parental care, is good. But much more valuable is concrete action. For those who decide for the first time, the question inevitably arises of where to start. We share the experience of the trip of the editorial office of RelevantMedia to the orphanage.

Despite the state’s requirement for orphanages to have their own website or page, they do not always have a person savvy in this matter. But some employees are guided on the Internet and can voice requests for various social resources.
2
Our idea to raise money for school supplies by the first of September coincided with the announcement of the Sobinsky orphanage on www.gdedetdom.ru, and we got down to business. By the way, on this site is a map of children's organizations, addresses and contacts of similar projects.
3
We contacted the management by e-mail and specified how many children of what age live in it, what portfolios, bags, stationery are needed. It’s really important to clarify the details - for example, later we found out that preschoolers really lacked an electric pencil sharpener and beautiful diaries (every year, the same faces of politicians can be boring to anyone).
4
They sent out messages calling to participate in money and began to raise funds. Friendly start-ups got closer to the finals, KupiBonus employees made a big contribution. In addition to money, colleagues donated briefcases, computers, creativity kits, and more to children.

I wanted to fully cover the list of necessary things, and here all the tools turned out to be good. We traded at the school market in Olimpiysky, searched for goods at a discount, bought things in bulk, bought pencil cases, notebooks and pencils at Auchan. As a result, we managed to collect 80% of the required list.

All things in one car did not fit, so we went from Moscow in two. Sobinsky orphanage is located in the Vladimir region near the Klyazma River. It brings up more than thirty children, and this year it marks the 95th anniversary.
7
We were greeted as guests, the boys helped unload the cars. Then there was tea in the director’s office and a short tour of the orphanage: they showed us and told how the children live, what they are interested in, what wonderful crafts they make with their own hands.
8
From the conversation we learned a lot of interesting things. Including that the situation is improving, and Russian citizens are increasingly willing to respond to requests for help. And it is always needed - financial, material, physical (something to repair, paint, install).
9
Not to mention taking a child. According to the federal program, to free the orphanages as much as possible, we were of course offered, too. Today, as the employees of the orphanage told us, there is the opportunity to adopt children, take them into a foster family, under guardianship (up to 14 years old) or guardianship (from 14 to 18 years old) or foster care (the child remains the status of a foster home child). But that's another story.

This was the first experience of the editorial office to assist children; we learned a lot for ourselves. We hope you find this information useful.
