One of the most beautiful places in Europe - the island of Cyprus - is unusually attractive for both tourists and immigrants from many countries. But if tourists are attracted by local attractions, wonderful nature and rich nightlife, then for immigrants it is much more important to purchase local real estate, a flexible tax system and a relatively simple procedure for obtaining a residence permit. But getting a Cypriot citizenship for a foreigner is much more difficult, although this can be done in several ways.

Instruction manual
1
In accordance with the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, a person who has one or both Cypriot parents, has been married to a Cyprus citizen or has lived in Cyprus for at least 7 years may apply for citizenship of that country. The period of residence in the country is determined by the border marks in the passport.
2
There is another very short and simple way to obtain Cypriot citizenship, but only suitable for rich people who are willing to invest in the economy of Cyprus. To do this, transfer to the accounts in a Cypriot bank 17 million euros and provide the immigration service with the relevant documents. A close option is the procedure for obtaining citizenship for businessmen and investors. In this case, the applicant must either make direct investments in the economy of EUR 26 million and own real estate, or create a company that has been successfully operating for 5 years, or introduce new innovative technologies, creating research centers and laboratories.
3
For most migrants who do not have Cypriot parents and do not belong to the owners of a large business, the most accessible methods of obtaining citizenship through marriage with a citizen of the country or after living on its territory for a required period of 7 years. It is important to consider that an application for citizenship as a result of marriage with a local resident can be submitted no earlier than after three years of residence in Cyprus. Moreover, the migration service will require confirmation of the reality of the marriage, so that in this case, fictitious marriage will not succeed.
4
Prior to obtaining citizenship as a result of the period of residence, you will first have to obtain a residence permit, which will allow you to legally be in Cyprus. A residence permit is granted either temporary, for a period of one year, or permanent. It is important to remember that a residence permit alone does not give you the right to work in Cyprus. There are two ways to get around this ban: either find a Cypriot employer willing to hire you, or create your own company, but it must have at least one local citizen employee. You can also obtain a residence permit without the right to work by submitting documents on the availability of regular income in your country or on the state of a bank account that provides an annual income of at least 4, 500 euros.
note
Cyprus citizenship can be acquired in one of the following ways: 1. By birth or blood right. Citizenship of Cyprus by birth from a parent who holds the citizenship of Cyprus. 2. Marriage with a citizen of Cyprus. To obtain citizenship on this basis, you must have been married for at least two years.
