The sanctification of water is not one of the seven most important church sacraments, but it certainly has a sacramental, mysterious character. In other words, while reading a prayer and liturgical action on the water, the grace of the Holy Spirit descends invisibly, but quite realistically. Water becomes a kind of shrine, which should be properly used and stored.
In the Orthodox Church there are three orders of blessing water: sanctification in the order of the sacrament of holy baptism, on the feast of the Baptism of the Lord, as well as a small sanctuary that takes place throughout the year.
How to use holy water
Permanent storage of water in reserve is unacceptable. Many people bring it once a year from the church, as a rule, to Epiphany and store it according to the principle "so that it stands in the house, because everyone has it." This is fundamentally wrong! Thus, a peculiar imprisonment of the shrine occurs. The grace of consecrated water will not decrease, no matter how much it is stored, but those believers who do not turn to the shrine, that is, do not use it, steal themselves. Holy water should be drunk regularly.
In addition to ingestion, she can sprinkle the house. However, do not rinse her with a sick person or child while bathing, since holy water can get into the sewers. Water can only be sprinkled. Also, do not give her drink to the pet.
