In the Orthodox Church, there is a custom according to which the name of a person close to you can be mentioned in the liturgy if you submit a special church note. However, it must be completed in accordance with church rules.

Instruction manual
1
Fill in the note correctly. On one sheet, you can submit both individual names and a list of names, which should not exceed 10, but you need to separate those who are remembered for health and those remembered for peace. The purpose of the commemoration, for example, for health, should be indicated at the top of the note. Also traditionally on the leaf is an eight-pointed Orthodox cross. The list may contain only the names of Orthodox Christians. Names should be given in Church Slavonic form and in the genitive case. For monks, their names are indicated after the tonsure. It is not necessary to indicate the names and other personal information in the notes, an exception is made only for priests and monks, next to whose names their rank is indicated. Also, the names of the ministers of the church should be indicated in a note before the names of the laity. Try to write in legible handwriting, preferably in block letters.
2
Select a time to send the note. This can be done both the day before and immediately before the liturgy. If you want a memorial service that day, come to church in the morning. Please note that it is advisable not to submit memorial notes during the main Orthodox holidays - Easter, Christmas and others, since the names of the deceased are not announced as part of the festive service. The only exception is Trinity Day. However, you will be able to file a memorial note the next day. You can receive the note form directly at the church. It is also possible to order an individual service, which is held after the main liturgy. Another version of the prayer service is magpie. In this case, the person’s name will be mentioned in the liturgy for 40 days. Upon request, there is a longer commemoration - throughout the year. In individual monasteries, you can order the eternal commemoration of the deceased.
3
Make a church donation. In large churches, the desired amount is usually indicated, which usually depends on the number of notes submitted, but you can increase the donation if you want to help the church.
note
It is customary to order a prayer service for the dead on the fortieth day, as well as six months later and on the anniversary of death, however you can submit notes for the repose on other days.
Useful advice
Notes can be written on plain paper or on church forms available. Some Christians adhere to the old tradition, according to which names for remembrance in the service were entered in a special book. Such a book can also be handed over to a church employee by making a church donation.
