Moscow metro is a whole underground city. Every day, millions of people use this type of public transport. Guests of the capital can get confused in its labyrinths. But Muscovites have long been aware of the many subtleties of the metro that they successfully use.
The transition between the Teatralnaya stations of the Zamoskvoretskaya line (green line) and the “Revolution Square” Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya (blue line) is not without its nuances. These stations are located in the very center of the capital, not far from the Kremlin and Red Square.
Being on the platform of the Teatralnaya station, you can see a sign in the center of the hall, which indicates the desired path. She calls to climb the flight of stairs from the side of the platform, from the side of which the trains are moving northward, i.e. to the Tverskaya station, then walk along the long corridor and end up at the Revolution Square. This path will take about five minutes, and even more with luggage or with an elderly person.
However, the device of the subway is such that the official version of the transition can be replaced with an unofficial, but practical and convenient one.
To do this, just climb the escalator leading to the southern entrance hall of the Teatralnaya station and, without leaving the turnstile zone, walk a few meters and go down again on the escalator to the platform of the Ploshchad Revolyutsii station. The entire road will take several minutes, but instead of a long stomp on the official crossing, a completely unobstructed journey ahead, standing on escalators. In order not to be mistaken with the choice of an escalator, it should be remembered that the southern lobby will be the one that is located in the direction of train movement towards the Novokuznetskaya station.
This method is successfully used by passengers familiar with this transition option. However, most of them have probably already forgotten the way recommended by the underground signs.
The trick is that these two stations have a combined lobby, from which escalators lead to the platforms of each of them.
By analogy, you can make the reverse transition. Being on the platform of the Ploshchad Revolyutsii station, you should climb the escalator in the direction in which the trains are moving towards the Arbatskaya station, walk the same few meters along the lobby again within the turnstile zone and go down to the Teatralnaya platform.
The most important thing that a passenger who decides to use the proposed method should pay attention to is the right choice of escalators. However, once having tested the considered option, he will continue to resort to his help and will gradually begin to consider it not only as an alternative to the official one, but also as a “default” option.
